Screenshot protection

Your client needs to see the photos to choose from them. That doesn't mean they should be able to keep copies. Welepix lets you show a gallery so the client can browse and select, but can't take screenshots or record the screen.

Where it's protected and how

  • Android app. Screenshots and screen recording are blocked by the phone's own system. Button combinations and screen recording apps don't get around it.
  • Welepix Client for Windows. The app window simply doesn't show up in screenshots or screen recordings, so the photos aren't captured.
  • Web browser. Screenshots can't be blocked here, but attempts are detected (Print Screen and the Mac screenshot shortcuts). The client sees a warning, and you see in your statistics which photo it happened on and how many times.

How to turn it on

  1. Create a new share link or open an existing one.
  2. Tick “Open only in the Welepix app (Android, Windows)”.
  3. Save it and send the link to your client as usual.

The option is set per link. You can show the same gallery to one client only in the app and to another in the browser as usual.

What your client sees

A link like this no longer opens in a browser. Your client sees a short note that you'd like them to view the gallery in the app, an access code and buttons to get the app.

  • On an Android phone the link opens straight in the app. If it isn't installed yet, the client is sent to Google Play.
  • On a Windows computer the client downloads Welepix Client right from the link page and opens the gallery in it.
  • No account is needed in either app. Your link or the code is enough.
  • Everything that works in the browser works in the apps too: browsing, selecting, comments, questions to you and submitting the selection.
  • The Windows app updates itself, so your client doesn't have to do anything.

Good to know

  • iPhone and Mac clients can't open these links yet. Turn the option on when you know which device your client uses. An iPhone app is on its way.
  • Protection covers viewing. If you allow downloads, the downloaded files are in your client's hands. It's best to keep downloads off during selection and turn them on once you deliver the final photos.
  • A phone pointed at the screen can't be stopped by any app. A watermark helps with that.

Combine it with other protection

  • A watermark on preview images (originals stay clean).
  • A PIN code on the link.
  • A link expiry date.
  • Screenshot attempt statistics for every photo on the statistics page.
